Un teschio con cappello di paglia e microfono ci introduce nel mondo lisergico di Piero, universo che racchiude meraviglie kraut, psichedelia tracimante e trance rock cibernetica. Un tratto intricato e spiazzante che passa per Ash Ra Tempel, Chrome, Faust, Popol Vuh e Loop, giusto per citarne alcuni. Perché il bagaglio culturale che è dietro queste otto tracce è così ampio e stratificato da lasciare spiazzati.Piero suona praticamente tutto (basso, chitarre, synths, batteria, voce, percussioni), lascia come solo ‘ospite’ Paramahansa Yogananda, il cui canto cosmico per la realizzazione del sé fa da guida all’esperienza mistica di Pray With Me.

Ci ritroviamo dunque in un oceano di colori e sensazioni meravigliose, evocate da un cantore attento ed ispirato. Homo……sapiens? dà inizio al trip a base di chitarre e vocalizzi spessi e oscuri come la notte, Stars Carousel dilata al massimo la tensione sospendendo echi e percussioni nell’atmosfera, Warm Ebrace poggia su una ritmica essenziale per dar sfogo a dissonanze ed effetti stranianti.

Un lieve momento di respiro lo donano le chitarre acustiche e le percussioni ancestrali di Crying in the Violet Room, mentre Whispers from the Center spinge sul pedale heavy psych arrivando a ricordare la band madre Insider. Altro giro altra corsa con Wandering About, strumentale che trascina in territori vorticosi, oscuri e a tratti impenetrabili, come nel caso della conclusiva The Last Train (are you ready?), aspra cavalcata che gioca con minimalismo e space rock.

Escape from the Ephemerald Mind è un lavoro suggestivo e affascinante, che pone Unimother 27 come un progetto unico nel panorama underground italiano. Così particolare da essere prodotto da Pineal Gland, laboratorio sperimentale che si muove tra musica, arte digitale e pensieri in libertà. Non è dunque un caso che nel retro copertina campeggi una massima illuminante: “Se si esclude dalle attività umane tutto quanto attiene al raggiungimento del profitto, rimarrà soltanto l’essere”. Ora è chiaro il concetto?
